Go ahead and get back in your little black dress, or your cutting edge dark suit, because now there are some fabulous natural tips on treating your dandruff.
Dandruff is due to inflammation of the top layers of the skin, which causes scales, itchiness and is also caused by the reaction of your body to products that break down the oils.
Here are some natural tips to make sure that your mane is flake free.
You are already sweet enough. Cutting down on sugars and chocolates as well as an intake of fatty foods is helpful. Also make sure that your plate has lots of green leafy veggies and raw foods.
Vitamins: Biotin is a popular method of treating dandruff. It’s a water-soluble member of the Vitamin B family and it breaks down the fats, carbohydrates and proteins.
With a typical dosage being 3000 mcg twice a day this will sure do the trick. You can even find Biotin in your pantry by eating enriched foods as whole grains, egg yolks, cauliflower, mushrooms and bananas.
Vitamin B1 and B2, Omega-6 and Zinc are very effective in treating dandruff so make sure they are a part of your regular vitamin intake.
Grapefruit Seed Extract. Hit your health food store and grab a bottle. Only a few drops to your regular shampoo will do the trick.
Tea Tree Oil: You can find tea tree oil based shampoos, or just add a few drops of tea tree oil to your own shampoo.
Selenium. Use selenium based shampoo; this works as a fantastic anti-fungal agent and makes sure that your scalp is properly hydrated.
Apple Cider Vinegar. After you have filled your cup with some (bottoms up!), make sure that you leave some aside for your scalp. Drench your scalp with apple cider vinegar and wrap your hair in a towel for an hour. Then wash it out.
Flaxseed Oil or Vitamin E Oil: Before going to bed, apply these oils directly to your scalp, sleep on it, then wash it away in the morning. Just be sure that your favorite pillow is covered in a towel, as it tends to stain the fabric.
The Thyme is Right: Boil three cups of water and then add a handful of thyme and rosemary. Remove from heat and leave the pot covered for good half an hour.
Strain the water in a bottle and use 5 tablespoons of it and apply it directly to your scalp after you washed your hair with your regular shampoo. Rinse it off and towel dry and you are good to go.
Olive Oil or Coconut Oil is a brilliant way of keeping your scalp (and your hair) fabulous. Apply it directly to your scalp (and even your hair) and keep it on for the day. Wash it out at night. This tip is a popular remedy in India.
Aloe Vera.:Rub Aloe Vera directly to your scalp before you wash your hair. And you’ll see some great results.
